TO THE HORSE RACES TO BRING DOWN THE EVIL SISTER — Navid (Michael Steger) wakes up in the hospital but has no memory of who pushed him down the stairs. Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) visits Navid and following her conversation with him, makes a life-changing decision about her addiction to pills. Silver (Jessica Stroup) and Teddy (guest star Trevor Donovan) bond over the loss of both of their mothers and unexpectedly get close. Liam (Matt Lanter), Dixon (Tristan Wilds) and Ivy (guest star Gillian Zinser) learn that Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) and Jen (guest star Sara Foster) will be attending the horse races and devise a plan to finally reveal the truth to Naomi about her evil sister. Annie (Shenae Grimes) and Jasper (guest star Zach Sherman) sneak out even though Harry (Rob Estes) and Debbie (Lori Loughlin) have grounded her.. Harry Sinclair directed the episode written by Rebecca Sinclair and Natalie Krinsky (#211).
‘90210′ Lesbian Love Story Not a Fling

Our readers are pretty much split in the middle over this whole imminent lesbian coupling on 90210. If you’re somehow out of the loop, Gia, played by guest star Rumer Willis, is set to have a something-something with wounded Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes). 90210 showrunner Rebecca Sinclair insists that the pairing isn’t a cheap stunt to attract viewers, but a genuine exploration of a valid teenage issue.
“This isn’t a fling,” she tells Entertainment Weekly. “We’re coming at this [relationship] from a genuine place and not going, ‘Let’s do a titillating story that will grab some promotion.’ This is a real aspect of teenager life that’s interesting.”
Ade, of course, is coming out of a terrible breakup with Navid (Michael Steger) while his relationship with 90210 newcomer Teddy (Trevor Donovan) didn’t even take flight. Is this the “genuine place” Sinclair is talking about? Might promote a negative stereotype of bisexuality/homosexuality as an option for the disgruntled, wouldn’t you say?
“The breakup certainly shook her up and made her sort of more open to the possibilities of what will make her happy. But this isn’t a direct rebound like, “Oh, I’m going to go be with a girl now.”
There is currently an ongoing lesbian storyline on Grey’s Anatomy, and while Sinclair admits that these kinds of things have become dime a dozen in primetime, she swears that Gia-Adrianna is the real deal, primarily because there has been a “real void” in the 90210 universe in terms of gay and bisexual characters.
Is a gay male character in the horizon too for 90210, then? “I would love to have a gay guy [on the show]. It’s a huge part of what high school is,” she says.
90210 Season 2 Episode 8 Women’s Intuition – Recap
By · CommentsThe best part about this week’s 90210? Samantha Ronson barely played a role on it. The worst parts? We can name a few…
- Debbie quickly realized – based on her flimsy story and misguided facts about having a baby – that Sasha wasn’t actually pregnant. She confronted Sasha with this accusation and told her to stay away from Dixon. She listened, calling him and claiming she had a miscarriage. Against Harry’s wishes, Deb let her son believe this tale. Seems like a very, very quick end to an abrupt storyline that never really needed to take place.
- All of a sudden, Liam, Teddy and Ivy were total BFF. Again, very abrupt. They hung out at a Hollywood party, but Liam left early because Jen – who is now exclusively dating Ryan – made up a story about Liam hitting on her and Ryan got pissed at Liam for it. Mr. Matthews is a smart guy. We’re not sure why he’s written so poorly in this storyline and just falls for anything Jen says.
But Liam left, and Ivy soon met him in his mysterious basement, where something is under a tarp, but he wouldn’t let her see it. He would kiss her, however, as these two made out hardcore. Guess the show didn’t even wanna pretend like this might not happen. Better than dragging it out, we guess.
- Annie, meanwhile, heard from Navid that Jasper was a drug dealer. She confronted him about it, he got angry, but then they made up. We later learn that Navid was telling the truth, however. Before getting to that, quick backstory on Adrianna:
She actually sung (hilariously!) in an attempt to win Navid back, but he was steadfast in his rejection. This caused Adrianna to cut school and cry her eyes out. She refused to attend any AA meetings, even when Navid himself tried to push her toward them. When Adrianna tried to go out and attended the aforementioned party in Hollywood, she spotted Navid talking to girl and even Silver and Teddy chatting. Uh-oh.
With that as background, the episode ended with Adrianna buying drugs from Jasper. Fortunately, we know she’ll eventually trade in pills for breasts.

After the Claire/Gretchen lesbian debacle of a storyline on Heroes this season, another show will join the bandwagon of girl on girl action.
According to EW.com, 90210’s Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) will rebound from her messy breakup with Navid (Michael Steger) by testing the other side of the fence with Rumor Willis’ character, Gia. And we are not talking a fling of the week or just an experimental kiss, but a long term relationship.
Are you shocked yet?
According to executive producer Rebecca Sinclair, the relationship will be handled tastefully and not as a “titillating story that will grab promotion.” Okey dokey!
The storyline is set to began in January of next year.
To me, a more shocking storyline nowadays would be if the presence of a bisexual male was on a show. The bisexual female/lesbian storylines have been done to death and have only been sweeps stunts that last a couple of episodes and the female in question is hetero again. First, The O.C. did it with Marissa and Alex, then House had Number 13 as a bisexual, and we all know how much The CW shoved down our throats that Melrose Place’s Ella Flynn played both fields in terms of lovers until they were met with a resounding “So What?” by the viewers, hence less girl on girl time for Ella lately.
Grey’s Anatomy and Degrassi: TNG are the only shows that I know that have done such a storyline justice, but can 90210 follow in their footsteps?
